Mix-dieting or when dinosaurs of different diets(herbivore and carnivore) help each other, most known to in combat, is a definite frustration for some in dinosaur survival games, especially in games like The Isle in where you loose all growth when you die.

Even though there are many community servers with rules to prevent this, on no rule servers like the official servers of Path of Titans , nothing in the game prevents it from happening.

So I propose a solution for any of the big 3 of dino survival games or any new ones, The Instinct System.

In short the 2 main things you need to do in a system like this is to make it prevent mix dieting to an extent, but not cause griefing, hence why a comfort system isn’t the best idea. So I thought of a way to prevent mix dieting in a good way. If a carni gets close to a herbi, or vice versa, each one will build hunters instinct or fear respectively. When this instinct builds up, your dinosaur slowly becomes more “insane” in a way. This causes your dinosaur to start to act out and automatically attacking things that get near it(outside of there own species), like a animal building stress or the urge to hunt. This would make it so that herbivores and carnivores would attack there allies that aren’t in the same diet. This would also make it hard to grief, as a herbi with stress would pretty much have an auto attack feature in a way, same for carnivores, making hunting a harder challenge if you’re going to mix diet. However, there are limitations, a trike isn’t going to get fearful of a raptor, or a rex isn’t gonna get hunters instinct from a struthi. and it of course wear off after a while. And although an auto attack, seems broken, when I mean auto attack, I mean the basic attack of the animal, theropod bite, stegosaur/ankylosaur tail attack, that can be dodged. Also, it of course would be a setting that you can turn off in server. So in short this isn’t the most fool proof idea, but it would put a dent in the amount of mix-dieting that happens imo.
