Daspletosaurus is a large terrestrial carnivore. It is a bulky hunter that seeks to cripple the movement of its prey before moving in for lethal damage.

Description[]

Daspletosaurus has a robust and powerful skull supported by an S-shaped neck, along with strong legs to make up for its small and weak arms. It shares this same body form with other tyrannosaurids.

Paleo Info[]

Daspletosaurus is a genus of tyrannosaurid dinosaur that lived in western North America between about 77 and 74 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period. The genus Daspletosaurus contains two species. Fossils of the earlier type species, D. torosus, have been found in Alberta, while fossils of the later second species, D. horneri, have been found only in Montana. Daspletosaurus is closely related to the much larger and more recent tyrannosaurid Tyrannosaurus rex. Like most tyrannosaurids, Daspletosaurus was a multi-ton bipedal predator equipped with dozens of large, sharp teeth. Daspletosaurus had the small forelimbs typical of tyrannosaurids, although they were proportionately longer than in other genera.

Trivia[]

  • Daspletosaurus received small model edits to improve its paleontological accuracy.
  • Daspletosaurus was the first dinosaur in Path of Titans to have multiple ability slots for one body part i.e. the head slot.
  • Daspletosaurus is able to pick up large meat pieces when other similar sized dinosaurs cannot.

Gameplay Tips[]

  • Daspletosaurus is well suited for different hunting techniques, depending on which abilities it chooses. The most common choice is a pursuit build that focuses on high speed and decent stamina to rush down prey. A fast trot speed and good stamina regen allows it to keep chase. When in a pack, one member may use the "Bone Snap" ability to hinder a target's movement while the other members apply damage. The charged "Heavy Bite" and "Tyrant Roar" abilities work amazingly when combined with Bone Snap.
  • Daspletosaurus synergize well when packed with a much stronger but slower carnivore. A Daspletosaurus' Bone Snap bite allows allies to catch up to prey that would have otherwise been faster.
  • Daspletosaurus' high damage makes it a greater threat to many dinosaurs even larger than than themselves. Their damage allows them to effectively brawl with Allosaurus and Suchomimus very well, while also being a notable threat to large animals like Tyrannosaurus as a result of their heavy bite doing immense damage - but keep in mind, this doesn't always succeed.
  • Traction may be the Daspletosaurus' worst ability. It doesn't provide enough to be useful, and thus Balanced Tail may be a more effective tool - yet even then, you don't exactly need the better turn radius with your already good turning speed.
