There are many varieties of items in Path of Titans. Food items will keep your dinosaur from starvation, but not all dinosaurs will eat the same things. Path of Titans includes a diet system in which different species must eat different foods in order to survive. Certain food items will give negative debuffs to your dinosaur, while other foods will give a positive buff.
Items can also be used for quests, such as collecting an assortment of items, or delivering them to a new location. Some quest items even have specific functions, such as how glow mushrooms are the only items that can be used to replenish waystones.
The different diets that can be unlocked allow for certain foods to be eaten, allowing players to choose one that works best for their playstyle. Note that some species do not get the same access to foods as others with the same diet. An example is Scavenger for carnivores; Sarcosuchus can eat shellfish, but Megalania cannot.
