- Kaiwhekea was the first fully aquatic playable released in Path of Titans, along with the first flying playable and island map, Gondwa.
- Originally, the plesiosaur was going to be Woolungasaurus, which lived in the Wallumbilla Formation of Queensland, Australia during the Albian (Early Cretaceous) period. It was changed to Kaiwhekea due to Woolungosaurus being an invalid genus, lumped into Styxosaurus.
