Trivia[]

  • Despite being called one of the three raptors, Latenivenatrix is actually a Troodontid, a sister clade that split from a common ancestor in the Late Jurassic Period. Much like how we as Hominids split from Chimpanzees millions of years prior.
  • Latenivenatrix and by extension other troodontids, show evidence of Gyrification or more commonly called brain folding, hinting at a higher degree of problem solving intelligence.
  • Latenivenatrix calls were inspired by Australian wildlife, such as the Australian Raven and the Australian Magpie.[1]
  • Latenivenatrix species are based off other Troodontids with inequalis being a reference to Stenonychosaurus and formosus being a reference to Troodon.
  • Latenivenatrix first appeared in NightStalker's Trailer as the main focus.
  • It also appears in the Pounce Update Trailer as the main focus.
  • Latenivenatrix is now an invalid [or junior synonym] name. As of 2021, it is now Stenonychosaurus. However in 2023 it is once again considered it's own genus, showing the commonly ever changing scientific field of Paleontology.
  • Latenivenatrix’ calls are very endearing, and it may give a sign to Prey that it would be harmless. But Troodontids are smart enough and ambush its prey.
  • Latenivenatrix, as for the Pounce Update, just received its second TLC on 28/10/2024.
