Leedsichthys is a giant member of the Pachycormidae, an extinct group of Mesozoic ray-finned fish that lived in the oceans of the Mid-Late Jurassic period of what is now The British Isles, Germany, Normandy, France, Argentina & Chile. Leedsichthys was a filter feeding fish that may have fed on various small sea life and zooplankton. They probably traveled far distances in search of food, and had few predators as an adult. Leedsichthys adult were on average 16-20 meters long and 43 tonnes. Leedsichthys belongs to the family Pachycormidae.
