Path of Titans Wiki

The Sarcosuchus is a large semi-aquatic carnivore. An adept swimmer, it can seize prey from the surface and drag it into the depths.

Description[]

Sarcosuchus is the only playable crocodyliform in Path of Titans. It has a long and narrow snout full of teeth, with large rectangular scutes along its back. Sarcosuchus has a long, powerful tail that allows it to swim quickly after prey. Sarcosuchus is low to the ground and usually slower than most other creatures in Path of Titans, but has a surprisingly quick sprint for ambushing players.

Paleo Info[]

Sarcosuchus is an extinct genus of crocodyliform and distant relative of living crocodylians that lived during the Early Cretaceous, from the late Hauterivian to the early Albian, 133-112 million years ago of what is now Africa and South America. It was one of the largest crocodile-like reptiles. It is known from two species, S. imperator from the early Albian Elrhaz Formation of Niger and S. hartti from the Late Hauterivian of north-east Brazil, other material is known from Morocco and Tunisia and possibly Libya and Mali. Sarcosuchus belongs to the clade Pholidosauridae.

Survival Tips[]

Sarcosuchus is a semi-aquatic character, and thus requires water to survive successfully. For most of the time that a Sarco grows, it will be in or around water. It's too slow on land, and burns stamina extremely fast. Recovery, both on land and in water, is slow. So it is not advised to travel around very often unless in a group of terrestrials that can protect you.

Offense:

Defense:

Metabolism:

* Fish Eater: The default metabolism, and the one you'll most likely be using. This allows you to eat both meat and fish, and has a moderate food and water drain. Adult Sarco's tend to reside in places where other players will travel through, so their main source of food will be meat. However, the fish in the water will supplement this if traffic is rather slow.
  • Scavenger: More available food sources in exchange for fast food and water drain. Sarco's can eat meat, fish, bones, and shellfish. The shellfish part is exclusive to Sarco's for this metabolism. This is good for young Sarco's who have found their main questing lake. Even better when there are burrows in range of the water's edge. Sarco's can ration fish and shellfish by eating the critters, or they can just eat shellfish so the fish aren't being overhunted. Adults don't benefit from this diet as the food required to fill up even the smallest of food capacity is increased to the point where several piles of shellfish cannot satiate a grown Sarco.
  • Hypercarnivore: Exclusively eat meat. This is not as good as Fish Eater, but is still something that grown Sarco's can use if they want, assuming that the traffic is frequent enough to keep the food supplied.

Trivia[]

  • It was a part of the eighth stretch goal, worth $92K AUD ~ $65K USD, and will get included after full-release.
  • Palustribus is a fictional species created for the 3rd model variant.
  • Sarcosuchus was added early for Pre-Release backers due to the delay.
  • The Sarcosuchus uses crocodilian hatchling chirps for its "friendly" call. In real life, adult crocodilians are incapable of producing this vocalization. Hatchlings produce this noise when they're in distress and calling for their mother.
  • The original running animation for the Sarcosuchus is somewhat based on the galloping of the Cuban Crocodile, the only known crocodile that is said to gallop when chasing something on land.
  • Sarcosuchus can now crouch as of it's TLC
  • Sarcosuchus does not hide most of its body below the surface when not submerged, unlike most modern crocodilians in real life. This forces most Sarco players to hide below the surface when encountering other players as large adult Sarco's are easy to spot when they are floating at surface level.
  • The Sarcosuchus was not a prehistoric "crocodile". Instead, it was a Crocodyliform.
