The Stegosaurus is a large terrestrial herbivore. Relatively fast for its size, it deals large amounts of damage and bleed with its wide-reaching tail swipes.
Appearance[]
Stegosaurus is known for its small head and very wide body, adorned with a distinctive row of large plates that run along its back. It also boasts an arrangement of four sharp spikes that line the tip of its tail, referred to as a thagomizer.
Paleo Info[]
Stegosaurus is a genus of herbivorous thyreophoran dinosaur. Fossils of this genus date to the Late Jurassic period, where they are found in Kimmeridgian to early Tithonian aged strata, between 155 and 150 million years ago, in the western United States and Portugal. Of the species that have been classified in the upper Morrison Formation of the western US, only three are universally recognized; S. stenops, S. ungulatus and S. sulcatus. The remains of over 80 individual animals of this genus have been found. Stegosaurus would have lived alongside dinosaurs such as Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, Allosaurus, and Ceratosaurus; the latter two may have preyed on it. Stegosaurus belongs to the family Stegosauridae.

Survival Tips[]
Stegosaurus is less agile than its cousin, the Kentrosaurus, but is much stronger.
Offense:
- Tail Attack: The default tail ability. When fully grown, this move has high damage (80) and can deal severe injuries to opponents of equal or smaller size. It inflicts good Bleed as well. Damage and Bleed are multiplied by the difference in Combat Weight between the two combatants, so Stego will typically deal heavy damage to most opponents due to its great weight. The raw power of this attack is usually enough to cause most smaller opponents to run off after being hit.
- Tail Swing: The second available tail ability, and is a charged attack. This is the strongest attack in Stego's arsenal at a whopping 100 damage when fully charged (before Combat Weight is taken into consideration). This attack is best used against slower and larger opponents who can't easily evade it. Smaller opponents will simply keep distance until the attack automatically triggers and attack in between cooldowns. Group attacks will allow for more aggressive usage of it as your opponents will be distracted by your group members, allowing you to run in and hit them with it. Your stamina should be conserved for using this attack in general. Just be careful not to hit your allies.
Defense:
- Standard Hide: The default hide that offers no benefit or consequence. It should be replaced with Armored Plates as soon as possible.
- Armored Plates: Like Kentro, Stego's Armored Plate skin gives it increased defense without taking away speed.
- Solar Powered: Offers no defence but additional 30% stamina recovery during daytime which is not to be underestimated if one plan to bleed out opponents or sustain longer vs. hit and run tactics where attacks need to be avoided by sprinting frequently.
Metabolism:
- Herbivore: The default diet. Eat Berries and Melons for moderate food and water drain. This diet can be annoying at times if you do not know where the berry bushes are. Stego's also have a sizable food and water need and can eat and drink a lot even when they are only at 75% capacity. It's best to top off whenever possible.
- Forager: Eat nuts, fruits, flowers, and roots. Faster food and water drain. This may be good for young Stego's, but should be used only by adults when berries are not readily available.
Other Traits:
- Pivot: When standing still for a few seconds, Pivot will activate. This allows for faster Precise Movement turning. The speed is pretty quick compared to your normal spin speed. This is good if you anticipate an attack from the front, and you need to react to it and give your aggressor a nice tail smack. However, since precise movement locks your camera to your front, you won't be able to see the opponents behind you, although it is entirely possible to practice enough with using the Precise Movement key to get max value out of this ability.
Trivia[]
- Because of the use of the stenops species, the other two species (in-game) are smaller than what they are in real life.
- Stegosaurus is one of the original 10 creatures featured in the game.
- Near the end of 2022, Stegosaurus was affected by a bug that gave it access to the Anodontosaurus' Fortify ability when crouching with Pivot active. It was temporarily removed until the bug was patched a month or so later.
- In Pre-Extinction, Jiggy mentioned The Stegosaurus would lose a plate if bitten on the right spot. It is unknown if this was scrapped or W.I.P.
