Therizinosaurids were distinctive for their long necks, wide torsos, and enormous, scythe-like claws on their forelimbs. These claws, which could grow over 1 meter in length, are among the largest of any known dinosaur.

Therizinosaurus is a genus of theropod dinosaurs from the Late Cretaceous of Asia, specifically Mongolia. The type species, Therizinosaurus cheloniformis, is notable for its herbivorous or omnivorous adaptations despite being part of the theropod lineage, traditionally associated with carnivory. Therizinosaurus belongs to the family Therizinosauridae, a group closely related to maniraptoran dinosaurs such as dromaeosaurids and birds.
